Documentation

Learn how BIMHU's current engineering model tools work and understand the platform capabilities being developed.

Current capability

Getting started

BIMHU's standalone Viewer supports local mesh and point-cloud model inspection across seven formats. Its public Next.js Web integration is still being connected, so there is not yet an operational public Viewer route.

Supported formats

FormatStatusNotes
IFCSupportedProcessed private BIM source with GLB geometry, spatial structure and property extraction.
GLBSupportedBinary glTF container for portable 3D model delivery.
GLTFSupportedJSON glTF with optional external binary and texture assets.
OBJSupportedGeneral mesh geometry; associated material behavior depends on source assets.
FBXSupportedDCC and visualization exchange with meshes, materials, textures and transforms.
STLSupportedASCII and binary engineering or 3D-print mesh geometry.
PLYSupportedMesh or point-cloud geometry with available colors and normals.
3MFSupported3D Manufacturing Format package for print-oriented models.

Support may vary with model structure, materials and referenced assets.

Viewer controls and inspection

Orbit
Rotate around the model.
Pan
Move the camera view laterally.
Zoom
Move closer to or farther from the model.
Fit Model
Frame the loaded model within the viewport.
Selection
Select model objects.
Model Tree
Browse the scene and model hierarchy.
Properties
Inspect available object metadata and user data.
Visibility
Show, hide or isolate model objects.
Measurement
Measure distance between selected points.
Section
Use clipping planes to inspect geometry.
Grid & Axes
Use spatial orientation references.
Bounding Box
Inspect model extents.

Current limitations

  • Very large models may affect browser performance.
  • Metadata availability depends on source format and model structure.
  • Materials and textures depend on referenced model assets.
  • 3D Tiles requires a future streaming GIS runtime and is not supported by the current local-file pipeline.

Guest-first access

Public product information and the standalone Viewer demo remain available without registration. An account is required for private Projects, persistent Asset uploads, deletion and the integrated private Viewer. Managed sharing, billing and Credits remain planned.

Planned

Platform roadmap

RVT, DWG, DXF, DGN, LAS and LAZ processors remain planned. Cloud services, sharing, embeds and collaboration are also future capabilities.
